Review: LOVE it! I'd give it 6 stars if I could. Significantly better AND considerably cheaper than the top-of-the-line Macbook Pro. - I'm a long time, die-hard Mac user of over 20 years. This laptop is my second Windows machine since Windows NT and I have to say I am loving this machine and have not touched my Mac except to move a couple of files since I received it. I was looking at buying a new MacBook Pro, but the prices kept me from making the commitment. Then recently I looked at the system requirements for some software I need and saw that it (like so many other software titles) is Windows only and not only that but it's recommendations were for a fairly powerful Windows machine. None of the MacBook Pro's measured up to the recommended specifications - if I wanted to use this software (Arc GIS) on a Mac, I would have to do it on a desktop Mac and I would have to run the software under a Windows emulator (Parallels). I didn't want to do either of those things so I started looking at Windows laptops. One of the hardware recommendations I was looking to meet was an Intel Xeon processor, and the none of the MacBook Pro's have one, only the Mac desktops and servers do. After a little research I was excited to learn that three manufacturers (MSI, HP & Lenovo) made Windows laptops with Xeon processors! After looking at the specs for both the Lenovos, HPs and MSIs I decided on the Lenovo because for the price, it had better specifications than a comparably spec'd HP, plus it had the longest warranty overall, better build quality (MilSpec!) and reportedly didn't get as hot as the MSI. This particular machine was also about $400 less than the MSI, so the decision was an easy one. And a month later I still have a smile on my face every time I think about how much more machine I got for significantly less money than a Mac. This machine is FAST, quiet, has a beautiful display and more neat features than I care to mention. I'm still thoroughly smitten! I never imagined I could be so happy with a Windows-based computer. Oh - and it runs Windows 10, which is, in my opinion, a solid competitor to Mac OS X from a user-interface perspective.
Review: Could have been perfect but flawed in avoidable ways. - Great machine w/ a couple serious flaws. Machine performance-wise is pretty great. I've never been able to pump out renders as quickly as with this machine. For a mobile workstation under $2k, it really fits the bill when it comes to 3d-work / CAD. Gaming seems solid too. The matte screen is nice and easy to keep your eyes on for extended periods of time. It's not very heavy (I take mine to and from work everyday and it doen't bother me) and the battery life can last a good 5-6 hours if you are conservative with media / brightness / volume. My complaints are as follows: -Lenovo key layout: why must Lenovo be completey subversive in throwing off the standard Ctrl Alt Shift geometry. So many applications rely on the CTRL in the corner as a toggler of some sort. Lenovo puts the Fn key. Annoying and unnecessary alteration of a standard. I know there is a BIOS hack for this, but normal users like myself aren't going to go that far to resolve it, something that shouldn't be to begin with. - Build quality. Seems like a solid machine, however, some weird things. My Laptop is not completely flat. When placed on a completely flat surface 3 corners touch down but it does not lie completely flat. I don't think it's anything I've done. Strange for this to be the case. The keys have very little 'click' to them, or snap back. They are the chiclet design. The tactility suffers from the older ThinkPads with the snappy keyboards; you really know when a key was/wasn't depressed. - Sleep mode is faulty. 'Shut Down-->Sleep', then closing the lid, the machine has a tendency to come back on. As if the lid closing toggles the machine awake again. This is a problem because if you travel a lot and are on the move with it, you will probably encounter this and will lose battery power. If you put the machine in a carrier it is easy to forget and the machine will be ON, overheating and draining battery. This can reduce the longevity of the battery and the machine. Frustrating & really annoying and resolution unclear. This simply shouldn't be. This really could have been the perfect mobile workstation machine but these avoidable flaws bring into question it's quality control.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It was pretty easy to install extra RAM (even under the keyboard)
*by E***. on March 6, 2017*

Works well for me. It was pretty easy to install extra RAM (even under the keyboard). I decided to upgrade this to Win 10. The only minor annoyance was the FN and CTRL keys being switched in placement. I remapped the keys to alleviate that problem for me. This can be done in the UEFI BIOS. Update: After using this laptop for a while I am very impressed with the build quality. I take this on to construction job sites daily with the dirt and grime associated and it has been holding up. The battery life is extremely impressive for this machine and it give you a long notice when you are running low. I have made it through full days having forgotten my charger. For those using it on your lap, it does get a little warm on occasion.
