## Description

desertcart.com Powered by a three-horsepower, one-Ph motor, the award winning Powermatic PM2000 10-Inch Cabinet Saw sets a new standard for innovation with an array of patented features and massive body design. It boasts the heaviest cast-iron base in its class to virtually eliminate table vibration, oversized cast-iron tables, and a push-button arbor lock that's conveniently accessible from above the tabletop.Rugged Design for Smooth OperationDesigned with input from professional woodworkers, the PM2000 provides incredible quality, efficient functionality, and long-term durability. Its refined heavy-duty trunnion mechanism features rigid, box-style cast-iron construction, high-end bearings, and a conical-shaped worm gear drive with an increased contact area to enhance the smooth, solid feel of the tilt and height adjustment.A pair of oversized, eight-inch-diameter cast-iron hand wheels, each with a large spinner handle, makes blade height and bevel adjustments virtually effortless. And to prevent long-term use from loosening the hand wheels on their shafts, they are locked in place with machined grooves and keys rather than setscrews.Precision Machined Arbor and Poly-V Drive Belt SystemThe full-length 5/8-inch diameter arbor is precision machined from stress-proof steel to exceptionally high tolerances for accuracy. It accepts stacked dado sets up to 13/16-inch wide, and because there is no gap between the threads and arbor shank, thin chippers won't hang out of line. Also, the push-button arbor lock makes for rapid blade changes, while a high quality poly-V drive belt system transmits more power without slippage or excessive noise. Generously Sized Tables and ExtensionsAll the high-luster, cast-iron surfaces are finely ground to ensure a smooth, mar-free work surface that provides more support for big jobs and have both a front- and rear-edge bevel for hassle-free work piece positioning.Measuring approximately 30.5 x 22.0 inches (W x L), the primary cast-iron tabletop expands to 42 inches long when the standard cast-iron extension wings are bolted up, giving you plenty of space for even large work pieces.Safe, Sturdy DesignThe PM2000 also comes equipped with a newly designed magnetic On/Off switch for safety. To prevent accidental start-ups, there's a removable magnetic "key" that disables the switch when it's not in place. For additional protection against damage, a quick-release riving knife greatly reduces binding/kickback risk.High-Tech Guard SystemThe PM2000's blade guard and riving knife system can be adjusted tool-free for the job at hand. At the same time, because the riving knife is mounted directly to the blade mechanism, the gap between it and the blade never changes during height or angle adjustments. This maintains the safety a riving knife affords in virtually all cutting situations.Get Accuracy and PrecisionAn industrial-duty 50-inch Accu-Fence System ensures accurate cuts. Adjustable angle indicators on the blade bevel scale for repeatable bevel cuts. Additionally, a heavy-duty, deluxe, micro-adjust miter gauge with a 13-inch extension fence ensures stable workpiece support and easy fine-angle adjustments. Finally, to facilitate movement in and around the shop, the massive cast-iron base has a built-in retractable, four-wheel caster system.Dimensions and Warranty InformationThe PM2000 measures 37 x 39 x 85 inches (W x H x D), weighs 675 pounds, and is backed by a five-year warranty. What's in the BoxOne table saw; one table insert; one miter gauge assembly; one blade guard assembly; one switch in box; one push stick; one arbor wrench; two lock knobs; two swivel handles; one riving knife and pawl assembly; one hardware bag; two extension tables packed in individual boxes; two hinge pins; one side cover; manual; and warranty card. From the Manufacturer This new Powermatic model 2000 tablesaw is a 3-horsepower, 1ph, 230-volt saw with a 50-inchaCCU-FENCE. It is a left tilting saw with an arbor lock that allows faster and safer blade changes using only one wrench. The saw also comes with a riving knife with a quick release for consistently safer cuts. A big difference in this cabinet saw compared to others is the cast iron base that provides a more stable foundation and the integrated retractable casters which eliminate the need for an optional mobile base. The retractable casters are easily cranked up or down by the two-stage handwheel on the side of the cabinet. You will save from $80 to $200 on the cost of a mobile base depending on which base you may purchase. Power to the blade is delivered through a Poly--volt belt, a long-lasting and efficient method of transferring of power. saw comes with a micro-adjust miter-gauge along with 10-inch cast iron extension wings that will give a large work surface and there is a massive cast iron trunnion that will allow for a more stable system with virtually no vibration.

Review: Great saw - The saw arrived promplty in numerous boxes, all solidely mounted on top of a pallet. The carrier that tool king used did provide a lift gate at no charge. After unbolting the saw from the pallet, I was able to use the built-in caster system to roll the saw all the way to its final location. Bringing the castor down is a little tedious as each turn of the wheel doesn't do much but this was am effortless manouver. It took me 2 days to completely setup the saw, run the electrical and the dust collection. The hardest part was aligning the front rail accurately. The only tuning I had to do on the saw was to level the insert with the top of the saw and to setup the fence. All other settings where dead accurate right out of the box (at least to an 0.01 accuracy). Running the saw is a real pleasure. It is not loud and there is absolutely no vibrations. I didn't find any piece of wood in my shop that provided any kind of resistance. Everything cuts like butter and the cuts have a glass smooth finish ready for glue up. My best surprise was the dust collection. It works much better than I expected. With my setup, the only time I see some dust is when removing a small shaving or when using a zero clearence insert. Changing blade is definitively an easy operation with the blade lock and the massive wrench provided. I read some review complaining about how difficult it is to put the instert back when the riving knives are in place. I would have to disagree, this is a very simple operation. I have very few complaints. The dust collection port is at the back of the cabinet making it impossible to install my HTC folding outfeed table. I would also have liked a dust collection port on the guard. Finally, leveling the insert or adjusting the riving knife holder call for a 3mm allen wrench which of course was the one missing from my collection. Providing the wrench would have saved me a trip to the store.
Review: Winner.... - THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE PRODUCT ONLY After all the reviews I read I was concerned about potential QC issues. I am happy with what I received and happy is not easy for this critical old man. First thing was to set parallelism blade to miter slot. Got my jig all set up using a digital indicator. Several measurements with the same results: .0000 or -+/-.0005 Yes that's 0 or 5/10,000 from the factory. I don't know call me crazy but that's close enough. As far a table flatness goes the extension lined up very nicely. Laid out a straight edge looks darn good to me. No I did get out the feeler gauges. This is wood working not aerospace. Runs quiet, smooth and almost non existent vibration. Nickel test, nickel did even move. I'll have to get used to how long it takes for blade to spin to a stop. Riving knife adjustment was time consuming and for some reason the riving knife and blade guard splitter don't like the same settings. Switching between the two requires adjustment. I am using thin kerf on both. Purchased separately. Factory 90 degree stop was spot on as well. Did not bother with the 45 degree stop. I like the retractable wheels. Nice to not have to compromise stability when using a mobile base. Accu-Fence is very nice. Flat on both sides not wavy in the least. Measuring indicator is easy to read. Do have few purely cosmetic things. Incredibly minor, you have to look really hard to find them. The extension legs. Folks have complained they tear out from the particle top. I lined up the bracket with the side rail and drilled through so the bracket has one bolt securing directly to the side rail front and back. The Top is an MDF with a slick top surface. The underside is a torsion box like framing of plywood. Satisfactory for purpose in every respect.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Almost perfect.
*by Y***2 on May 4, 2018*

I give this saw 5 stars because it’s an excellent machine, in almost every way. The problems I’ve had with it are 1) the extension table was difficult to fit, so that it will be flush with the cast iron table, then, since it’s made out of fiberboard (particleboard covered with something like Formica), the table now sags on those screws, up to 1/4” below where it started out. One day I’ll have to tackle re-setting it. 2) The arbor lock is crap. Mine broke within a week, i.e. before it had been used a half-dozen times. I got a new one, and when I installed it, when I removed to old one, I could see what the problem was, that the lock is very poorly made. The lug that engages the arbor is held in place by 2 tiny welds! It is not mortised or dovetailed into its base, in a way that would give it strength, but merely tack-welded on! Welds are usually mild steel, and they are not very strong. Powermatic has not upgraded that part since, as far as I know (it’s definitely needed). Now that I understand the problem, I make allowances for it, it has survived so far, but it is BOUND to break again. 3) The motor-cover door won’t stay closed. Other than that, this PM2000 is everything a good tablesaw should be. Despite its peccadilloes, I feel no need, or any desire to replace it. It’s a keeper.
