It's not particularly pet-friendly as rollers/brushes continue to clog & bind as any other normal vacuum tends to do. This is especially true if, like me, you have a Samoyed dog or other pet that sheds fur, as this vacuum will indeed pick up her fur but you will still often have to manually de-fur the roller/brushes by hand. Most annoyingly, the vacuum is indeed lightweight and to use it this ought to be a benefit, however, when the vacuum is standing upright it tends to fall over at the merest tug of whichever hose or attachment is being used - it just missed smashing the glass in an expensive floor to ceiling Dansk glass display cabinet in my lounge and on another occasion its rather tall handle narrowly missed my two-year old granddaughter who was near it when it toppled over for the umpteenth time. My dog has also received several near misses. Despite being continuously very careful when using it, the unit remains extremely unsteady 'on its feet.' It's quite good on hard floors and tends to pick-up well at edges. However, simply put, I just don't like this vacuum at all and cannot recommend it. Overall, it's nowhere near as pleasing to use as my much older Dyson. This Shark unit, with its imbalanced weight distribution (not heavy enough at its base) makes its unsteadiness very annoying for anyone using it and of course this may have potentially dangerous implications when toppling over. It is the one for me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good vacuum cleaner *by M***. on 11 May 2022* Bought this Shark NV602UK vacuum cleaner to replace an aging Dyson. We've previously owned 2 Dysons, which have been good purchases - worked well and lasted for several years. However, they were both heavy machines and awkward to use on stairs and landings, and a replacement Dyson would have been fairly expensive... Shark were recommended in a recent Which? survey, and this particular model was on offer when we purchased it, so decided to buy one. It seems to have been a good buy, though we've only had it for a month. It's very good on vacuuming carpets - probably a bit better than the Dyson upright it replaced. It's noticeably lighter, which makes it much safer to carry up and down stairs. It has a "lift off" design - which means you can detach the bottom part of the machine and walk around cleaning the stairs, ceilings, etc. carrying just the wand and suction unit. These are quite light in weight. Are there any drawbacks? Some of the plastic does feel slightly flimsy and you wonder how well it will stand up to frequent use - but there's a 5 year warranty (providing you register with Shark) so they must be fairly confident it's going to last at least that long. Some other reviewers have commented on the suction unit being a bit unstable when detached from the bottom roller, but I've found it still works quite happily even if it's lying on its side! I've found dust collection capacity is sufficient to be able to vacuum several rooms before needing to empty it.
