Review: These things are FIRE - I bought these to help teach our local youth group some fire starting skills. I had each boy tie a snake knot lanyard out of paracord and they hooked the metal scraper to the lanyard before tying an overhand knot. They worked really well. The boys were able to get their own fires started with some advice and guidance from the leaders. These are big compared to the dinky little one I had as a boy scout. They will last a long time and be good for many fires. This pack of 10 was cheap compared to an individual one with a lanyard and scraper. Easy to use and effective at starting fires!

If you have a good striker and some patience these will work in a pinch. If you're a serious fire bug "camper, hiker, etc." you'll probably be better off spending your money on a larger ferro rod. If you're going to buy these for a bugout bag that's fine. Keep a couple out to practice with so when (if) the time comes when you truly need to use it, you'll have the experience.

**Q: Are they magnesium, flint or ferrocerium?  Do they really glow in the dark?  What's with this product description?**
A: I believe they are just ferrocerium.  They do not glow in the dark.  To be honest, they work, but are far from being great.  However, I wanted rods that were small, well priced, and would work decent.  These fit the bill.

**Q: Hello. I need 10mm x 100mm for about 40-50pcs sticks. Do you have any?**
A: Hello, we currently only have a size of 8mm x 80mm, and we currently do not have a size of 10mm x 100mm

Works great it's exactly what I needed to refill my ferro rods They came with minor scratches and dings on them, but I assume that's because they weren't wrapped in some form of padding
