Sodium Hydroxide (lye) is necessary to make soap. Oils + Water + Lye -> SoapAfter the saponification process, no free lye is left in the soap, it's all gone through the chemical reaction to make become soap. :) **Q: can I add some almond oil or jojoba oil to the melted soap base? If yes, what's the max amount?** A: I have added almond extract (for fragrance), and it works just fine. I use other essential oils too, and they work for me. I don't measure, but a teaspoon for every 2 cups or so should work if you want to add the oil for the fragrance. If you want to add it for some other reason, I would suggest you don't do it because the soap base is just perfect the way it is. **Q: Are your products free of animal testing?** A: The label lists the ingredients on the block of Goat’s Milk soap but it does not indicate anywhere on the label whether it is or is not tested on animals. **Q: How long can I store this soap base? Want to use around Christmas time.** A: I had mine on hand for at least 2 months before I used it. It is such a high quality soap. You can even customize it with essential oils. Here’s how I made mine: Use a microwave-safe bowl (glass works best) and a silicone spatula.
