Review: 6TB but Slow in Speed - There was no additional packaging from the seller, it came in a standard desertcart paper packet. Surprisingly, the product reached my home safely and works fine. But shockingly, there was dust inside the WD package, right on the surface of the drive. I have no idea how that’s even possible, which makes me question whether the drive is actually new or refurbished. That said, the drive functions well. The wire and connector look brand new and work perfectly. The build quality and material are good too. However, the speed is disappointing. On Type-C port, I get around 100–110 MB/s on average, and only 40–50 MB/s when using a USB-A 3.1 port. In fact, my slow 5400 RPM 4TB internal drive consistently delivers 160–180 MB/s. So, if you’re just looking for a large 6TB portable drive for storage, it’s a decent option. But if you plan to actively work on it, you’re better off going with the SanDisk waterproof portable SSD. It offers only 2TB at a similar price, but the speed is significantly higher.

**Q: How is it different from other WD drives sold for 99$?**
A: The 99 dollar models transfer on my computer at around 90 MB sec, bought this USB-c model without realizing it was different, only transfers at 35 MB sec on same computer, considerably slower for more money, stay away.

**Q: What cable will I need to get to connect this to a usb3 port?**
A: Requires a USB-C cable.  I purchased one for $10 at my local computer store.

**Q: Can I boot from this drive on a mac?  In other words, is it bootable?**
A: Yes, if you format the drive in Mac native format, and use a clone application like Bombich Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC), the external drive should be bootable on your Mac.   You have to have macOS copied over, for it to be bootable.  You hold down the option key when booting, to get a boot device selection menu during the boot.

**Q: Good to use with a crome pixelbook (chrome os) ?**
A: The short answer is YES. You will need to format the external hard drive  through your files (blue) folder. However, before doing that, connect the external drive to your USB port and try to save a file to the hard drive. If it works fine, then you don't need to reformat. Hope that helps.
