It started getting me to start wiggling the cable around to find that sweet spot where it would charge. Then after some time, the sweet spot started going bonkers on me; charging and then not charging, charging and then not charging. It got to the point where however I had the cable, my iPhone would refuse to charge and the battery died. I decided then it was probably time to see about getting it fixed. I found this charging port replacement and thought why not try and fix it myself. Bought it and don't regret it. The replacement was easy peasy and my iPhone is as good as new! Had to keep wiggling the cable until I found a “sweet spot” where it would continually charge and/or sync. Since the phone is a few years old, and I don’t like the newer models’ sizes, I figured I would attempt the port repair instead of buying a new phone I wouldn’t like. I’m glad I did. This charging port did not have any instructions but it’s probably for the better. There are several very detailed videos out there that will walk you through the swap. You will need some special tools as well, but they are not expensive.
