**Q: Is it true they smell like death?**
A: Only if you are watching the OFFICE :-), Mung bean sprouts do have a specific smell to them but to most they smell like a lot of growing plants in the sprout phase, just make sure they are rinsed often to remove stagnant water and the natural residue from growth, any sitting water that does not drain well will create smell.  keep in the dark as well do not put them in direct sunlight after they begin to sprout :-).  The biggest mistake for sprout growers is too much water and letting them sit in water for long periods, this will either stop them from sprouting in the first phase or rot them in the 3rd to 5th day.

**Q: Can these seeds be used to grow a plant that produces the beans?**
A: Yes they are viable seeds for growing

**Q: Are these mung beans grown in usa?**
A: from an earlier answer "These seed were grown in Peru, they come here to Tennessee to be cleaned and sold for sprouting

**Q: Nature Jim:  Do you run the seeds through any chemical solution (such as a dilute bleach) to kill off any microbes on the seeds?  What chemicals?**
A: We do in our commercial operation just prior to the growing process, we use calcium hypochlorite ( dry bleach ) , that is one method, the FDA suggest 25,000 PPM, as a step in reducing the possibilities of a pathogen being present in the final product, that process takes 30 minutes to wash and sterilize the seed and then make sure all chemicals are off as the soaking and growing cycle starts.  we have been using that method for over 20 years now and it seems to work very well.

These mung beans sprouts make a ton. I tried the jars but found that a colander and some burlap grow exceptionally well and up to 4” long this way. This brand is excellent and will be looking for more by the company. Superfood with a nutty taste, easy to grow in 5 days, put in fridge to store. Makes a lot making the value excellent.
