Do you have two speakers connected to the module? I.e., from one of the SPK pins to a speaker and to ground, and another separate speaker from the other SPK pin and to ground? DON'T do that. Only connect one speaker, from SPK to SPK, unless you have an external amp. Why are you powering this at 2V? That's not normal. At 3.3 V, with no audio playing and no speaker connected, my module is only very slightly warm. You may have a connection error. **Q: Can it stop after each song and wait for a trigger to play the next song?** A: That's the way I used it. Played one piece, waited for a keypress or time-out (on Arduino), and triggered the next song. **Q: Can I hook up an 8 ohm speaker directly to this chip?** A: Yes but only one, between the two SPK pins. Do not do what some videos show, i.e., one speaker from each SPK output to ground. It'll work - right up until you fry the device. **Q: Does the microSD card need to stay in the slot to play sound or is it straightforward to store on the on-board flash?** A: The sd card has to remain in the unit. When I put these chips into that project, none of them worked at all. Poor quality.
