They grip well, without hurting the hands. They're comfortable for use as free weights and also when using them as support, such as with push-ups or renegade rows. Other people said that there's a strong odor, so I washed each weight out of the box with a wet (no soap) cloth and haven't noticed an odor at all. The coating is smooth. I haven't had them for all that long, but I haven't noticed any issues such as when they bang together.The rack--which takes a bit to put together--is sufficient. It seemed a bit flimsy at first, but it is solidly built. The corners and edges are a bit sharper than I'd like, but it's nicely compact. The padding for each handle on the rack is smooth and allows them to spin in place.Note that my shipment came in five boxes.
