The instructions make mud look clear. The human factors of the display are actually inhuman factors. If you are not good with decryption of doubly encoded messages, skip this one. The text is in poor English and the symbols used on the screen are not the ones used to describe the operation of the device. Fortunately (sarcasm) they provide a "magic decoder ring" for the symbols. The incredibly bad language is up to you.A few hints: 1. The "SET" presses only last 10 seconds, so you better lay out all the steps first or you will have to scroll through the menu numerous times. 2. The "Note1" etc. are references to Paragraphs 5.1 through 5.7. 3. Read paragraph 4.2 carefully. Here is a translation: 4. The parameter AT, which looks like a A with a broken E on the screen, should be set to one or all the parameters are lost if power is lost.4.2 How to Set ParametersPress and hold β€œSET” key for 3 seconds to enter into the parameter setting mode, upper window will display the code TS (see: section 5 table) will display, the lower window will display the values being set. Press β€œSET” key to page down the menu tto the code you want to change, press up/down arrow heads to change the current parameter values. After entering the correct value, press and hold β€œSET” key for 3 seconds to save the parameter and return to the normal displaying mode. Each item set will require traversing the menu again. My credentials: 56 years in the computing business, 44 patents, and I built one like this (no timer) from scratch a few years ago for my son. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Very good programmable Thermostat with just minor flaws *by S***C on Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2017* After testing the unit and using it on beer fermentation, the unit operates very well. The frozen water tests came out from 32.4 to 32.8 which is very good. I tested the different programmable step temperatures and it worked fine. Remember if you want the final step to be held a long time, enter a large value that you will never reach such at 999 days. The reason for this is after it cycles through all the steps it will shutdown the unit on the completion of the last step after the specified hold time. This could be bad if you are fermenting something.The only strike I fine against the unit is you can't wait too long (about 10 seconds) when setting the unit otherwise it will lose your new setting and go back to original function. The manual sucks and is in a super micro print so go online to their site to save your eyes.The first step in programming (per the manual) it is to set the time and date, but this actually can't be done so you'll spend about 10 minutes trying to figure out why your following instructions that don't work. I can only guess that they copied info from another devices manual not realizing they included non working instructions. Just skip that part (and frustration) and move on to the next confusing part of interpreting symbols.
