**Q: Are these ok for outside?**
A: Probably not for any length of time - unless they are REALLY in a covered area.  They are constructed of wood (seat) and metal...seems like it would rot and/or rust pretty quickly as they don't seem treated for outdoor use at all.

**Q: How wide is the base?**
A: Approximately 17" at the bottom. We love the stools. The wood seat is a little hard so we got the baibu Bar Stool Cushions in 14" size. Perfect fit.
