But IF you are doing wood cabinets, applying common latex or oil based paint with a brush probably 600 is too fine a grit. The paper would constantly clog and probably pill making a lousy finish no matter how hard you work. Lightly sanding between coats by hand with 220 grit should give a better result. If metal, fiberglass ect with a spray paint system is the job then consider a fine grit such as 600 or more. **Q: I know this may be an odd question, but would this be a suitable grit to strike matches against?** A: Cooper No it’s to fine of a grit 150 grit would be better yet the strike paper on a box of matches is a difference substance on the surface.
