## Description

Pocket Pedometer.

Review: Great Alternative to the HJ-112 - I've been a real advocate of the Omrom HJ-112 for years. Absolutely loved my old HJ-112... Unfortunately I got careless and accidently left it clipped to my pants and ran them through the washing machine... So I decided to get a new pedometer. I was intrigued by this new model and decided to give it a try. I really like it. It has some improvements over the HJ-112 and it's less expensive to boot! Briefly here are the differences: 1) It's smaller in circumference, but slightly thicker. 2) It has a different paint job. 3) There's one less button, the reset function has been removed, which I rarely used on my old pedometer. 4) The real improvement is that while the HJ-112 stored your KCal burned, total steps, aerobic steps, and total miles for 7 days it did not save your aerobic minutes. They were only visible for the current day. The HJ-113 stores aerobic minutes as well as all the others for 7 days. This was a great improvement for me. I like to log my aerobic distance as well as time. It helps me to calculate walking speed, a component of my program I'm trying to improve. 5) They've also included a fat gram burned on the KCal display. Frankly it's just the KCal divided by 9. I doesn't add anything for me, but it might help motivate someone else. So overall I think this model is fantastic; it offers all the benefits of the HJ-112 (I find it's every bit as accurate, etc) and it has a few added benefits of its own. Namely: it's slightly smaller, it stores your aerobic times as well as distance for 7 days, it calculates fat grams burned, and it's cheaper! FYI: mine came with battery, so that's not how they're trying to save $. I got mine via desertcart/J&R and even with the nominal amount of shipping ($2) it was still less expensive than the HJ-112. I heartily recommend it, it's a great motivational tool. Also contrary to info in other reviews this is not a European model; all the distances are in miles, weight input is in lbs, stride is in inches, ect.
Review: Great, accurate, durable pedometer! - I purchased this model for my husband because I'd had this exact model for about 5 years. Mine is still working great, and my husband really likes his. It is accurate on steps and easy to set up and use. You put in your weight and pace length, then in addition to steps and aerobic steps (continuous walking for 10 or more minutes) it gives kcal burned and distance walked. It comes with a plastic clip plus a cord you can hook to the clip or loop around your belt loop without the clip so you don't drop it. My clip broke after a couple of years, but the cord is still as good as new after five years. I don't miss the clip at all since I loop the cord around my belt loop. Without the clip it will easily fit in your pocket. It even fits in the little small pocket that many jeans have. In addition to the current day's steps, kcal, and distance, it keeps track of this information for the previous 7 days. Mine went through a front-loading washing machine once and continued to work just fine. Note: When you have to change the battery (so infrequently I forget how long it lasts, 6 months to a year maybe) you have to reenter the time, your weight and pace length.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it measure "steps" if you use this pedometer while riding a bicycle?**
A: I found that it will not but I think there are pedometers that will. Suggestion if I may look up under Bike Pedometers I hope this helped.

**Q: What is the difference in this and the HJ 112?**
A: Umm... what is the item?

**Q: Can you attach this to your shoe? My workout pants don't have pockets. How accurate would it be on a shoe vs a pocket?**
A: Its designed to be between your shoulders and your knees. Attaching to your shoe counts only the step for that foot...Loop the strap on your under garments and wear it under your clothes.

**Q: Does this pedometer have a power off mode or does it stay on? It doesn't look like you can reset your steps if you want to start again?**
A: The unit doesn't have a power off switch. You have to take the battery out. I think the only way to reset your steps on a given day is to push the reset button in back. But then you have to redo your settings.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice Product
*by A***I on April 28, 2010*

I have found this pedometer to be of good value. It is very reliable at measuring step count over long periods, and works very well (even when upside down) when it is stored in my front jeans pocket. Once, I was not able to attach the unit directly to my clothing, but it still recorded steps even when I left it in my purse! Just make sure to keep the unit positioned over 60 degrees above the horizontal, as described in the manual (in other words, make sure that it is vertical, and not lying flat), and it should work just fine. There are some minor downsides: It is less reliable at measuring step counts when I am riding my bike. Also, it sometimes does not count steps if I am walking around my room and take a few paces here and a few paces there. But this is understandable -- the unit is not supposed to start counting until after a 4-second delay, to ensure that any movement that it senses can actually be attributed to walking. To this end, I am willing to tolerate some error -- the pedometer measures the amount of "real" exercise I am getting pretty accurately. I could always get an ultra accurate pedometer, but I do not think there is a point spending a lot of extra money when this model, which is pretty accurate for a non-athlete like me, is offered at such a reasonable price. My unit came with a battery, as well as the safety leash, which has proven to be very effective -- I have not lost the pedometer yet, and do not plan to. This is a plus over the HJ-112, which was slightly more expensive and did not come with a safety leash when I was searching for pedometers on the internet. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.
