I bought the first one and loved it - then bought the second and hated it. Poor quality consistency. The first one worked smoothly and remains in good use after 8 months - no complaints. The other identical leash had frequent problems with the lock button 'sticking.' We would have to tug sharply on the leash to release the lock. The inner spring on the problem leash broke after about 6 months - now the retractable mechanism is completely useless.
