I think if you really take your time and kind of "half-cut" the boards and then fully cut them, you can get clean cuts, but I'm too lazy for that and it's just in my basement so some of my boards have some cracks at the end. If you are doing a large floor, or several jobs you absolutely want this tool, beats getting up and down and running out to a saw and then cleaning up the dirt.
