The groove for the seal was machined or cast into the end cap extending into the screw holes. I applied RTV to the gasket to get a leak free reservoir. I found a location under the bed of the Jeep inside the rear fender and built a custom mount for it. It was not an easy task getting it in and out but it was protected and I bought the constant duty version expecting it to be reliable. Within 1 year the pressure switch failed closed causing the pump to run continuously and open the relief valve. At least I could use it to air up the tires to get home. I emailed a copy of my Amazon order to Viair and they promptly sent a replacement switch. A couple weeks later after off roading, the pump quit working while filling the first tire. Troubleshooting revealed power to the motor but no rotation. I got an RGA from Viair and sent it in. 13 days after Viair received my pump I still had not received any communication from them. I called them. The person who took my call said it was good that I called and that they were going to replace my compressor under warranty and would ship in the next day or two. I’m still waiting for any communication that a replacement has shipped. If you need a compressor that you can count on I’d look elsewhere due to the poor design or QC related to the reservoir, multiple failures within 9 months, and an RGA system that seems unresponsive. I like having the air onboard and plan to add it to my pickup truck but will be looking hard at other options before giving Viair any more money. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great buy so far *by M***I on Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2017* I bought this compressor to air up tires on my truck and travel trailer. I will also be using to blow out water lines on the trailer if we are using it and the temperature unexpectedly stays below freezing for several hours. It is very compact and light weight. I bought this model because it is designed to run continuously, definitely a bonus if a truck tire was completely flat. The first time I turned it on it felt like air was leaking from one of the end caps but it was just a loose bleeder screw. Also, a wire pulled out of a crimp connection.
