It holds my 16lb Maine Coon, two four pound kittens and my six pound calico with no issues. I have a right facing and left facing and my cats will hop from each of them and even sleep on them.I was leery of the mounting options that it came with, but so far has been fine with the drywall anchors and small brackets. I went through and modified the one designed to be a storage area and cut a tunnel hole in for my cats as they enjoy being in the cubby area. I'm sad that I'll have to figure out a way to return this. The screws are stripped, the wood is split in places. You simply can not put it together because the screws are so loose that the brackets could never hold it up. To fix this I'll need wood glue, clamps, possibly a saw. Horrible product. I've never bought something that is this poorly constructed. Please beware, this may be truly impossible to assemble given what is in the kit.
