It works better than my old 2 fan cooling unit. It runs very quietly, does pretty well for my gaming unless I'm playing for an extended period (I have a really nice graphics card but it tends to run rather hot). For the price, this is really good and I would recommend it. Just a helpful hint, I took some adhesive backed foam insulation strips (like what come with portable AC units) and cut it into four 1 inch x 1 inch squares, and stacked them 2 squares thick on each of the back corners of the unit to elevate the laptop slightly, and voila! Even better airflow and cooling! My only complaints are that the lights cannot be shut off (minor annoyance and by no means a deal breaker) and it is not very comfortable when using directly on my lap (I just use a lap desk with it and no problem). If you're looking for a good economy cooling pad, this is the best I've had so far. It have been effective and useful. I will buy this model again.The flip out tabs at the bottom feel a bit flimsy at higher slant angles. My particular laptop can not use the highest tilt as the bottom of the laptop is slanted and it will 'jump the fence'.
