First one lasted a year on my rugged out door barn cat. The bell keeps him from getting birds, but he still can get mice, and gophers. It's a safety collar that will unhook if the cat gets caught on anything but it's not so weak that the cat could get it off himself with his paw. She has had no problems with it getting stuck on her fur, unlike every other collar she's had, and once adjusted to the correct size it has not given her any problems. When she got into a fight with one of my other cats they pulled on it and it came off, so the breakaway feature works well. It hasn't come off of her in any other circumstances, so it will not simply fall off.
