My older dog occasionally, rarely has accidents and I bought him this bed specifically because it was supposed to be waterproof. Then it happened, and the liquid just leaked all the way through to the foam insert ruining the whole bed. As far as I can tell it's just a lie for them to say it's waterproof. **Q: are bolsters egg crate or loose padding?** A: Solid - So there are 4 separate pieces including the main pad. Each of the 3 bolsters are manufactured with the common ends being at 45 deg and each are in their individual, tight, cloth sleeve. This gives good solid/tight corners as well as great aid in sliding them in and out of their pockets. Thus the bolsters are very firm with tight corners and my lady friend really enjoys utilizing them as pillows or hanging her feet over. It's thick, sturdy, nicely made & comfortable! It has a thin fabric-ish lining between the bed & removable fabric. It has nice sides, which also are able to be removed. This bed was greatly made except I wish the biggest removable part of this -THE BED- was protected & waterproof; however, I just threw the foam into a garbage bag then put all the material back on & boom. It’s water proof now lol The breakdown of this dog bed makes it washer friendly.Again, the only downside of this dog bed is the bottom part, the actual bed, is NOT waterproof (which I thought it was). So if you're in the middle of potty training or have geriatric dogs, this would be a good bed for them because it's thick & soft, but the bottom absorbs liquids. That's why I put mine into a garbage bag & put it back together.
