I'm buying one for my mom, too._______________________2018: A friend of mine lent me their similar Teavana steeper. I fell in love with it, but couldn't for the life of me find one anywhere. Finally I found this one and it's exactly what I'm looking for. It's large enough for an oversized mug, but not a soup mug. The outside edges of the top and bottom have a thin rubber lining. This doesn't protect your hands from the heat of the lid. Keep that in mind. The rubber does help more on the base. I can pick up the whole unit from my mug without singeing my fingers. Seems to be good quality with good ventilation and the tea disperses well. I've used it with loose tea and stringless bagged teas.
