I wouldn't go too much wider than 13". **Q: 6’1 175, 32 waist I have kinda pretty broad shoulders do I do med or lrg?** A: Best I can say is I’m 6’ 3” 240lbs with a 38” waist and very broad shoulders. I’ve got an extra large which fits great. Wear it all the time and the gun pockets are great. It's fairly thick leather with a medium hard feel. Zippers all work fine and seem to be of good quality although I will sew my patches over the front pockets so I won't use them much. The buttons seem to be of good quality as well. This vest has a light liner and is as comfortable as a leather vest gets with that medium "stiff" feel to it. No doubt it will take time and rides to break it in. I take a Large in clothing normally so I bought the Large vest and it fits perfectly over my Harley riding jacket! And I mean perfectly! This Large really is a Large bordering on Extra Large. My thoughts would be that if you take a M, then the M should fit over your riding jacket as does my L.
