Sure, you can spend more on shocks. But why? The Ranchos perform very well on the TJ. Let's face it, the TJ will never ride like a new truck, or even a new JL. But it can and should ride as nice as possible. The Rancho shocks will do the trick. Tip: I've read about the crappy factory paint on the Ranchos, and I'm not a fan of white. Im installing the RS 55128 shocks on the front. But I can’t fit the shock into the tower. The plastic retainer loop has not been removed. But I’m still trying to compress the shock to fit. Shouldn’t it already fit into the tower then I simply cut the plastic retainer loop so it simply expands? Right now it’s about 7-8 inches too long (again this is with the plastic retainer loop intact) and I can’t compress it that far to fit. It almost looks like the plastic loop was added at the extended length. Will have to return.See picture which shows the length of the shock. I’ve marked the upper and lower bracket of the tower.
