Shrunk like crazy. It means that there is something present above the “safe harbor level” that could cause cancer or cause reproductive and developmental effects. They have to do a risk assessment that takes into account the potential exposure of the chemical and toxicity of the chemical. It is not true that everything has it. It is not wise to ignore a warning that would only be present because it is mandated because it exceeds safe levels. It is likely for this product that it was treated to sterilize the product - it could be formaldehyde, ethylene oxide, or ?. I would wash the shirts before wearing them for the first time. I wish the warning included the chemical of concern and how much is present…. Google “prop65” and “consumer safety concerns” and “risk exposure” for more information. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent shirts if this is what you're looking for *by on Reviewed in the United States August 9, 2026* During COVID I ordered some Hanes shirts that were the exact style that I already had and when they arrived they were extremely short and poorly sewn. This almost made me stop wearing Hanes completely but after wearing them for 20+ years it's hard to change, so I gave them another try recently.Seems to me that Hanes is back! These shirts are excellent. They fit perfectly and they look and feel l great. However, here are a few things people should know.1) They may actually be thinner than in previous years. For me, that is a good thing. I'm not wearing a t-shirt because I need extra warmth but because I want cotton between my skin and the outter. It's softer, cooler, and catches my sweat. Thick undershirts make no sense IMO, but not feels that way (as you can see in the other reviews).2) Out of the package, they feel kind of crusty. This made me worried at first, but I Googled it and learned that they should soften up after a few washes. Today they are on wash number three and they feel like a normal soft t-shirt (which is why I'm leaving this review now).
