Review: Best coffee we have ever drunk! (¡El mejor café que hemos tomado!) - We can't remember at what age our family gave us the first small cup of espresso coffee ("Cuban coffee" is no more than that). Since we came to America we have tried the different Cuban brands of coffee that are produced here in America_ Pilón, Bustelo, Naviera, etc.; La Llave was our favorite and we began to brew exclusively that one once we tried it. As we have very close friends from Colombia here in Florida, we began to drink in their homes Colombian coffee, that they brewed as espresso to satisfy our taste and also, every time they visit Colombia they came back with Colombian coffee for us as gifts (Juan Valdez, La Bastilla, Matiz, and of course, all of them full body, dark roast and finely grounded). We already knew the quality of the coffee from some countries as Brazil, Jamaica, Guatemala and of course, from Colombia. That's the reason why we decided to try the Don Pablo's Signature Blend just because it is a blend of coffee beans from Brazil, Colombia and Guatemala. We bought a 2 pounds bag at our nearest Costco Warehouse center. We grounded as turkish because it's medium dark and usually for espresso the coffee is roasted dark (if you are buying whole bean coffee I assume you know the relationship among darkness, the kinds of "grinds" and the methods of brewing, so I won't explain about that here; but if you don't know, then I strongly recommend you to inquire in any way before buying whole coffee beans). The flavor of this blend when brewed is exquisite, the roasted beans looks very fresh because they are oily, and the smell of the beans are very deep, intense, and delicious. Now we feel espresso ground coffees as "quemados" (over-roasted). For more than two years in a row we have been only brewing Don Pablo's Signature Blend at home. Our colombian friends are very delighted with it too. Unfortunately, Costco closed the nearest warehouse from home and opened another one so far that it didn't make sense to keep the membership. That's the reason why we decided to buy Don Pablo in another place and we found it here in desertcart.com. With the money we expend here to buy a 5 pound bag we could buy in Costco approximately only 2 bags of 2 pounds each one. But, as this is a whole coffee beans bag and it's not sold here ground (buying it ground from Burke Brands LLC is more expensive and we must pay S&H and here in desertcart.com we paid Prime, we needed an electric coffee grinder too. After we made our research online, we concluded that an electric coffee grinder to get a good quality ground coffee for Turkish or espresso coffee is very expensive (the reviews for the cheaper ones for Turkish or espressos are negatives) we decided to buy an small manual grinder of enough quality to get what we want, so we bought a manual Japanese Ceramic Coffee Mill Skerton that makes the job great (see it in the photograph). We also enjoy the smell when grounding... Of course, a manual mill is very good for Turkish or espresso because you use a small amount of coffee each time you brew coffee for bigger quantities it's time consuming and tedious. I would like to suggest to Burke Brands to sell small amounts (bags) of each coffee so we could test them without expending too much money. Thank you Don Pablo for being in this business! CINCO ESTRELLAS!
Review: I was happily surprised that this is not cheap quality coffee. - Edit- May 28, 2020 After reviewing my desertcart Order history, I saw that this month is the 3 year anniversary from our first purchase of Don Pablo coffee beans. We have been enjoying the delicious medium-dark roast of their Signature Blend exclusively for three years now. The beans always arrive very fresh and aromatic. They are a rich dark roast that is not over roasted and burnt (as in the *bucks beans). We use a Saeco super-automatic machine and the Don Pablo beans are not oily at all and they work very well with the machine. Not many products can continue to be produced for years maintaining excellent quality, but Don Pablo does it on every single order. EDIT 1- May 2018: As this is part of my Prime Subscription, I have now received Don Pablo beans for about a year. All I can say is that this is the best coffee for the $ you can buy. I've had a lot of other beans that are 3 or 4 times the price, but they sure are not 3 or 4 times the quality. These beans are very tasty and when you go through a lot of coffee, they won't require a bank loan to pay for them. Original Review: I'm not sure what I expected when ordering some really cheap coffee. But I was happily surprised that this is not cheapo convenience store battery acid coffee. This is a nice medium body coffee with great aroma and very low acid. It makes a fine cup of coffee or lighter espresso. For the money, you would be hard pressed to find a better coffee bean.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this coffee good for French pressing?**
A: Hi Paul, thanks for reaching out. Many people enjoy this coffee in a French Press. The key is not to pour water on the grounds while it is still boiling. Bring the water to a boil, but then let it sit for a while until it reaches around 185 - 190 degrees, then pour it in. Otherwise you will scald the coffee and rob it of its flavor. It's important to get the grind right also, and for best results, you want a grind fine enough to get some flavor from the coffee, but coarse enough so the coffee does not pass through the screen. I personally prefer the hand drip method (pour over), as it gets more flavor out of the coffee without imparting the flavor of spent grounds (at least that's how I perceive it). Hope this helps. Thanks for your interest.Darron "Don Pablo" Burke

**Q: Not sure how to store the beans. I have heard; freeze, refrigerate, don't refrigerate. What do the experts suggest?**
A: We recommend an airtight canister in a cabinet or on the counter, never in the fridge or the freezer. If you Google it, you will find chemists and molecular biologists arguing about which is the best method, but we've just tested it ourselves over several years and have determined that the coffee tastes better longer if you don't refrigerate or freeze it. Because we roast to order and customers often receive the coffee while it is still developing (oil rising to the surface of the bean, the freezer will stop that process and dry the coffee out, and the refrigerator has a lot of moisture, and that is not good for coffee. Occasionally we will get a complaint about coffee quality, and after we determine it is not a problem with grind/preparation, we ask how the coffee has been stored, and often it has been in the refrigerator. We're not snobs, and if the coffee tastes great to you, that's all we care about. Our bags for personal use are sitting out on the counter or in a cabinet, rolled down at the top and secured with the tin tie, and that works just fine for us. Hope this helps!Darron "Don Pablo" Burke

**Q: Why does it state Shipping Weight: 15.4 ounces**
A: Hello,

Thank you for pointing that out! The shipping weight was entered incorrectly by Amazon. We have asked them to correct it.

Thank you,
Burke Brands LLC

**Q: What is the cold brew grind to water you guys use for this coffee?**
A: I use a course grind for the cold brew and regular coffee.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ If Henry Ford had this coffee, the V8 would have come out in '28 instead of '32
*by W***O on May 29, 2019*

It is always cool to arrive home and see the familiar "Smiling Package" in my parcel box. Today was no exception. Upon opening my treasure I was very pleased to see a bag of the Coffee Beans I had ordered just a few days ago, and see a happy Don Pablo, beckoning me to open the bag, see and smell the goodness that lay within, and set into action the events that would add a smidgeon of sunshine to an otherwise bleak day setting the capstone on the Pyramid of Giza. I carefully opened the zipper bag that firmly held my beans. I didn't want to spill any of this goodness on my kitchen floor and let even a hint of Saltillo and pet dander spoil my surprise. The smell of rich coffee beans hit me squarely in the nose, like a prizefighter landing a dizzying jab to his opponent. It smelled like a combination of heaven and a Mothers Love. In a word- delicious. I have a fancy-schmancy beverage machine that grinds the beans immediately before brewing them. The smell as the beans were being ground was heavenly. When the coffee began to brew, my mouth began to water. This was going to be so good! For the tekkies who want to know how many beans, how much water, all the things snooty people just have to know. I eyeballed the grinder full, added a full carafe of water and let it go. I'm not one of those "137 beans and exactly 544.08275 ml of only spring water from the base of Kilimanjaro" kind of guys. I just want a good tasting cup o' Joe. I'm a simple man in that respect. I was not disappointed. These beans make a fantastic cup of coffee. Although everyones tastes differ, I honestly can not think of many people who would dislike this coffee. Rich, smooth, very flavorful. This is good coffee!
