People have reported problems losing phones with the x grip, but only using it in horizontal position(if you look up x grip failure on youtube you'll see what I mean). I removed the rubber tether and only use mine in vertical orientation, and I am more pleased with it than my previous setup. I was skeptical about using it this way until I watched a video of a guy using it the same way doing multiple backflips off a kicker on his dirtbike without the phone moving. It takes no tools and about 10 seconds to install/remove, so I can switch it easily from bike to bike or remove it all together so I don't have a goofy looking mount on if I don't need gps. This mount dampens the vibrations for my bike much better than the last cheaper mount that I was using, so I am very satisfied in that respect.RAM also has a larger X-grip for larger phones, but I couldn't find a one piece one like this one with that option so I risked it and ordered it. I'm pleased to report that it fits my Galaxy Note 5 in a mid sized Spiegen case with some room to spare, and that with the weight of the phone in the x grip the clamp doesn't shift around. It also fits nicely above my bar bag so I still have unrestricted access to the zippers with my phone in place, without sticking up too far above the bag/bars. It really is just about right. My only gripe is that since this is a one piece unit instead of a separate RAM tough claw/double socket extension/X-Grip, the x-grip connects to the tough claw via a more bulky attachment so the rubber tether sits further back from the x-grip. This makes it have a lot more tension than I am comfortable with pulling back on the corners of my phone (this is the case with a smaller sized phone as well, I used my old galaxy S4 to check), so I opted to remove the tether and give up the option of mounting my phone horizontally even though that is what I prefer. If they could somehow remedy this issue I'd give this 5 stars in a heartbeatThis probably seems like a pretty long winded explanation to most people, but I'm pretty OCD about things being just right on my motorcycles so to anyone else like me: you're welcome. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Two SOLID products in one *by J***S on Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2016* Expensive? Yes, but I'm a big fan of the X-Grip cell phone holder. This size is perfect for and encased of caseless iPhone 6/6s, 5/5s/5c. I've got three of them in my Jeep for mounting cell phones and FRS radios and the X-Grip holds the phones tight during off road expeditions without worry of the phone slipping out, falling out the window, under the seats etc. It's a great product.This item combines the excellent X-Grip with RAM Mount's Tough Claw mount. I was a bit sceptical because it appears to be designed to attach to round bars, and my application calls for the Tough Claw to be mounted on to an L Shaped shelving frame. Well I am happy to report the Tough Claw is fastened on securely without a hint of wobble or jiggle. I watched some videos on their website that made me feel confident in their product. Of course I was still worried when I went on the highway with my phone in the holder, but I've so far so good! My iPhone 6 doesn't even budge. I will say that with this X-grip holder, if you have an iPhone 6, the two top arms of the grip fall on the worst spots of the phone: on the volume and power buttons. BUT, you can get it just right to where they fall below the power button on the right, and between the volume buttons on the left.
