He floated in it (too long, too big, to much room everywhere). So we had our 8 year old daughter wear it ( she is 53 inches, 60 pounds) and she fit it well with plenty of room to grow (note that it was not snug or fitted and the cut is not girly and the zipper is on the wrong side for a girl, but it works for our purposes of just playing at the pool). No areas that rubbed from zipper.
