3-in-1 Soldering Iron Rework Station Hot Air Gun 853D DC 10 Tips welder 3 in 1 YIHUA: desertcart.com: Tools & Home Improvement

Review: Great for hot air rework - I'm writing this review after having used this product for about 3 days. Overall, it's a good machine and worth the price. Initial impression: The item was packed well in its original box. The tips for the soldering iron are in a nice, high quality zipper bag which makes them easy to store. You do have to attach the hot air gun holder to the side of the unit (screws were already partially put in, I had to back them out and attach the holder). There weren't any instructions for assembly, but if you're using this product, you shouldn't need that. Hot air gun: The hot air gun is the reason I bought this unit, and it works very well. I haven't tried too many of the tips yet, but what I have tried has been perfect. It sits well in the holder and deactivates the heater while in the stand. The fan continues to blow until the heat drops to 100C. The fan will not initially turn on until you lift the gun from the holder. This is a really nice safety feature. The dial to control the air flow works as expected and lets you quickly control how fast the air moves. Soldering iron: After the original defective unit was replaced (hugely impressed with this seller's commitment to customer service!), the new iron is working great. It doesn't heat up quite as quickly as some other stations I've used, but it's still quite fast (somewhere between .5 and 1.5 min to get to 320C). Tip replacement is quite simple and the wide variety of tips is really nice. Voltage source: This seems to work well. The voltage readout is identical with my multimeter's voltage measurement, within a couple percent I'd say. It's hard to estimate since the value is reported only down to a tenth of a volt. But then again, I don't think the intent here is to use this as a precision voltage source. I set it to 5.0V and I get either 4.9 or 5.0 reported by my meter. I accidentally shorted it and it gave a warning beep and turned the power off. Again, good safety feature that seems to work as intended. General observations: The temperature is not easy to adjust. The buttons are single degree increments, and if you hold them down the temp moves so fast that you can't really control it. It's annoying, but still usable (especially since I don't change the temp much). The LEDs for the hot air gun and the soldering iron blink "- -" when they're turned off. I always switch the power off from the main switch on the back of the unit. Seems odd to me that anything lights up when the switch for that particular piece is off. The voltage readout for the power supply doesn't seem to have this "problem".
Review: Very, very nice!! - Very good for the price. As an electrical engineer, I didn't expect a pro-quality system and to be honest this isn't one. But it is an impressive package of the tools you most need on the bench - controlled temp soldering iron, controlled temp and airflow SMD rework blower and variable DC power supply and meter. Fit and finish are excellent and all functions seem to work perfectly. Packing & packaging - A. Everything was secure, all pieces were individually packaged and the entire system was secured in form-fitting styrofoam panels. Fit & finish - A. No paint chips or dings, all cords are good quality and in good shape, no loose hardware or sloppy assembly. Operation - A. soldering iron works perfectly and is controlled well. Temp settings seem to be accurate, using a non-contact IR thermometer. SMD hot air is equally accurate and works well. DC power supply was checked against a Fluke DVM and is accurate to about 2%. There is +10mV of DC offset at all settings and about 4mV of AC ripple. I wish the binding posts on the power supply were better quality and had a cross hole so you could slip in the end of a bare wire, but I think I can carefully drill such a hole. NOTE - the SMD rework blower automatically goes into cool-down mode and turns off when it is placed back in its cradle. Pick it up and it turns back on. BTW, there was a complete spare SMD heater cartridge and thermocouple included in the package, I guess as a spare part if the original fails. Nice touch! ALSO - there was an inserted customer service card from Mark Ethan in North Caroline giving email and phone for customer service & support. Another nice touch. BOTTOM LINE - I bought this to use at home. It fills my needs beautifully! Unless it suddenly fails (not expected), I'd recommend it highly.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good rework station for small applications
*by J***G on June 15, 2016*

Good device for rework of PC cards. Nice to have hot air and solder iron in one unit. The temperature setting goes to 480 degrees F max on both the soldering iron and air heater. OK for small intricate work and not too hot as to scorch the PC card.. The hot air velocity is variable but can dislodge surface mount devices if held too close so practice first on a junk board using the same size SMD components..The iron also is real good for SMD work but maybe not for general purpose work where a stand alone 60 Watt iron would be better. If the hot air handle were to be improved it would be to provide angled nozzles to avoid hot air rising and making hands uncomfortable. in standby mode, the station draws 5 Watts. Rocker switch on back panel allows complete turn off. A little hard to reach when the unit is perched on a shelf above the work space. Really nice that the station comes with multiple iron tips as well as shaped air nozzles. The 1 Amp variable power supply is a real nice feature. A current limit control would have made the supply superb.. Working cables are a little difficult to arrange on the work desk to avoid interfering with test equipment or other items. Both working cables exit close together on the front of the case.. Might be good if soldering iron cable had a jack on the back.to allow good separation. I might modify it for that to allow some separation .of cables.
