That stuff is lethal made me sick and my dog sick. It attacks your lungs. Hard to get rid of once you use it as it attaches itself to cloth areas of the car. **Q: can this be used in a very large apartment?** A: Yes, they can certainly be used inside as long as you follow the directions as they would translate to a house. Keep in mind you may need more than one as they are not designed to fill a large room. **Q: If used in a home, do you set it off in the air return vent?** A: This is really meant for the car, if you have central air it may work. If you use it by an ac unit that is in window it will just blow it right out side. I think the owner was an ocassional smoker. It smelled like strong detailer carpet shampoo over very faint smoke. It faded after a while but still there. Okay, read instructions, start car, run a/c, set the bomb off and close the door. Afterward it was kind of powdery smelling. Two weeks later it’s pretty much neutral. No detailer smell, no smoke and no powder. Just clean. It’s spring now and leaving the car outside with the windows down and sunroof open will help, too. It’s worth a try, I had good luck.
