The box arrived re-taped and looked as if it had been opened and re-taped. The winch was scratched and washers required for installation were missing. ### ⭐⭐ Serious safety concerns *by G***T on Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2014* This item was delivered quickly. It's powerful but a bit noisy. I like the white finish vs. very similar orange ones sold by others vendors.What I don't like is the disorganized way the cable spools from reel. The steel cable has memory and wants to be straight, so unless you keep constant tension on it, it coils away from the reel like a spring. This causes two problems. The first is an annoyance. The second is seriously dangerous.The annoyance is that, when the hoist is operating, the cable wraps/unwraps in a random pattern that makes the motion herky-jerky as the cable slips off high points into adjacent low points.The danger comes when lowering with little or no weight. The unwinding cable will create a rats nest that can bind causing the cable to continue wrapping around the spool rather than feeding out. When this happens, the LOWERING command on the control is actually RAISING the cable!To prevent self-destruction, the black round stop near the cable hook is designed to strike the metal gate and trigger a kill switch. Unfortunately, this switch is designed to halt only clockwise (raising) motion. If you get a reverse-wrapping condition, the machine thinks it's lowering even though the cable is rising.
