Excellent Original-Equipment SRAM Lever Hoods for Older pre-2013 Models (Mostly 10-Speed).

*by D***S on Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2018*

These rubber SRAM integrated brake lever hoods are for early Red, Force and Rival models. This is primarily the 10-speed models. These hoods are not for most later 11-speed models. These older-model hoods are exactly what I needed because I have 10-speed SRAM Force levers from 2008 which I'm using only for braking. (My drivetrain is SRAM Red in a TT setup with separate aero shift levers on my aerobars.)The SRAM part number on the box I received is 00.7915.042.000 for the black color that I ordered. The manufacture date was listed as 2018 Wk 01 so they are not "new old stock" but recently manufactured hoods, meaning the rubber is "fresh".Some reviewers have incorrectly stated that the left and right hoods are interchangeable. This is patently false. The truth is that the hoods are symmetrical like a mirror image is. But the outward side of both levers has two holes and the inward side has one hole. These hoods have protrusions to fill these holes. You could force a left hood onto a right lever, but one of the hood's internal rubber protrusions will not align to its expected hole and the result will be a bulging hood where it shouldn't bulge. So please pay attention to the details. The easiest way to tell the left from the right hood is this: The "SRAM" logo is always on the outside of the hood. If the logo is on the right (as you'd face the hood from the bike seat, then it is a right-side hood. If the logo is on the left, it is a left-side hood.I'm glad these older-model (pre-2013) hoods are still available. They work great and are true OEM replacements for the original hoods. Highly recommended if you have older-model SRAM Red, Force or Rival levers.Lastly, the seller for my purchase was "Bicycle Addiction" but Amazon.com fulfilled the order and offered free "prime" shipping.

These are (likely) not the hoods you're looking for

*by R***N on Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2017*

If you have Force/Rival/Red 22 (11 speed) shifters, these are not the replacement hoods you want. These were made for the older ten speed drive trains. If you have an 11 speed drive train, the shifters you want are:SRAM Hoods for New Red Shifters Pair (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008OE8D8K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_1pKNzbJZFKGAGThese shifters will fit 11 speed shifters even though the size is slightly off, but they aren't as good as the original shifters that came on my Force 22. Although they are the same thickness, the feel of these are more similar to thin silicone phone cases, rather than durable and stretchy rubber. In the attached pictures, you can see how mine started to come apart. In the center of both hoods, they split in the middle after folding them up and down several times when I was dialing in my fit and needed to adjust the height of my levers. On the right hood I also had a remote trigger for my Orp horn, and after being there a while they dug in and created a small hole.TLDR: these hoods are for 10 speed shifters. If you've got the newer 11 speed ones, buy the ones I linked above.

Perfect fit!!! Easy rules for installation below.

*by B***H on Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2016*

Absolutely perfect!! I have, 2010 SRAM red double tap shifters and these are a perfect fit. I was dreading installing these, after reading reviews but it is super easy, if you follow a few simple rules. Mine installed in about 2 minutes, no problem.1) Leave the hoods in the sun for about 30 min to soften them up.2) When ready to install, pour some rubbing alcohol into the grip and coat it. No need to turn inside out.3) Commit to pulling them over the shifters. I know the old ones were fragile and tore easy but these will not. Just give them a good pull and work the top and bottom and they will seat perfectly.
