I almost bought a OEM case or a new set of AirPods but I discovered the following: When this happens the case isn’t really the issue, the AirPods need just a sort of “reconfirmation/reset” with an oem case. I put my AirPod pros into my mom’s AirPod pro 2 case and this reset everything and I’m likely good to go for another 3 ish months or what have you. As long as you have access to someone’s oem case every handful of months, you shouldn’t have an issue. If you don’t, you might have better chances buying a used oem case.
