Review: Very sturdy scoop. Easy to use even to dig out packed brown sugar. - Really nicely made scoop - highly polished stainless steel. Just the right size to get out the hard to get at flour or sugar (especially brown sugar) out of the large 4 and 5 liter Bormioli storage jars. Fits easily inside the Bormioli jars my mom uses to store her flour, sugar, etc which are 4-5 liter in size and therefore hard to dig out whatever is stored there when they get down to about half full. This is a great boon for her since she weighs ingredients, this is a perfect vehicle for extricating the ingredient and gently shaking it out of the scoop and into the vessel she uses to weigh the flour, sugar or the like. She had been using smaller measuring cups to do the same job but she said whatever she was trying to weigh often spilled out of the measuring cup and onto the scale - with the scoop, it's a simple slide from the scoop to the vessel in which she weighed the ingredient. Much neater, easier and cleaner way to do the job. She said it was the right tool for the job and the only way it could be any better was to have another scoop with a 2" longer handle so when things get all the way to the bottom, she could still reach the flour, sugar or nuts in the 5 liter jars. She loved it! I got this as a gift from my son and have had it now for a year and a half. It never discolored with washing and I've used it on sea salt, and regular iodized salt and nothing has ever taken away it's shiny exterior. When I thought I'd lost it, I found it was irreplaceable and I bought one from RSVP. Not nearly as nice, it cost much more than the $3.99 for it last February - now if available, it's $49.99! I'm very glad I found it as it was and is the best tool for the jobs for which I use it. Where did you go LabRat Supplies? You're missed!

**Q: Is the 12 oz scoop a good size for a countertop ice maker**
A: I use my stainless steel scoop in an ice-maker inside the freezer.  If the 10" x 3.5" scoop would fit into a countertop ice-maker it should work well.

**Q: I assume stainless steel is safe for hot lunch like mac&cheese? I want to use this scoop to transfer hot lunch from a bowl into a Themos food jar.**
A: Stainless steel thermos's are safe for hot food, I wouldn't see why the scoop wouldn't be. I use it for ice and found that if the opening of the container is smaller than the tip of the scoop the ice falls out on the sides and makes a mess, but it's only ice. Mac and cheese might be messy. The tip of the scoop is about 2 inches, so if the opening on the thermos is bigger than that I think it would be fine. I love my scoop!

Really nicely made scoop - highly polished stainless steel. Just the right size to get out the hard to get at flour or sugar (especially brown sugar) out of the large 4 and 5 liter Bormioli storage jars. Nice ice scooper. It doesn't break like plastic ones I've used. The metal does get a bit cold in the freezer, as I leave it there with our ice, but, I love this scooper, as it's sturdy, looks nice, and works quite nicely.
