It's aluminum, but looks like wood and has a rubber foam backing. I haven't yet tried it live to see if it actually helps with feedback, but I see no reason it shouldn't work as most others do. I'll list a few of the guitars I have if it helps anyone: Martin D-28P (with performing artist neck): This fits. I didn't think it would because I heard Martin's had smaller soundholes. I don't know about stadard D-28's, but it fits mine. Ibanez AC240PN (my beater guitar). This fits perfectly. Gibson Hummingbird (2016). This fits perfectly. Guild F-50R. This fits perfectly. Guild F-512. This fits perfectly. This did NOT fit in my Martin 000-18. It's close, but this is just a little too big. You could probably shave off some of the rubber backing to make it fit if you wanted.
