## Description

The MagTek 21040145 SureSwipe dual-head triple-track magnetic stripe card reader is black, has a built-in USB cable to connect to the host system, and can be used to swipe and read the magnetic stripe on the back of a credit or debit card or another magnetic stripe card. Triple-track magnetic card readers can read and capture data from all three tracks typically present in a magnetic stripe to complete a transaction. Two magnetic heads allow a card to be read with one swipe, whichever way the magnetic stripe is facing. The bidirectional configuration of the reader enables cards to be swiped backward or forward at a speed of up to 60" per second.The built-in USB cable measures 6' long and can be plugged into the USB 2.0 port of a computer or another host system (sold separately) to transmit card data and power the magnetic card reader. USB keyboard emulation enables the reader to transmit data to host systems and applications designed to receive keyboard input. An LED indicator turns red to alert the user of a decoding error. This product weighs 4.5 oz. and measures 1.23 x 1.28 x 3.94 x inches (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) It can read magnetic stripe cards that meet International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) standards.MagTek manufactures card and check readers, personal identification number (PIN) pads, scanners, and card and PIN issuing systems. The company, founded in 1972 and headquartered in Seal Beach, CA, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001:2008.

**Q: Would this hold up in harsher enviornments? Looking for something in a machine shop**
A: I don't see why not. There's not much to go wrong and cleaning is simple. Of course, in a machine shop, cleaning might have to be done a bit more often.

**Q: Does it work with chrome os?  i have a chromebook and hoping to use it with zenplanner software.**
A: Yes, it works with Chrome OS, it's currently being used with a Kiosk App.

**Q: I have a macbook air and can't seem to get the swiper to work.  did i purchase the wrong one?  can i exchange it?**
A: You have to ask the manufacturer; on any PC, when you swipe the magnetic card, it acts as though you have typed the alphanumeric digits yourself on a keyboard. You may query Apple if you need a specific USB driver for it.

**Q: Is this product compatable with Quickbooks Retail Point of Sale 10.0 Basis Edition**
A: There are several different Magtek swiper models. To ensure compatibility you should contact quick books and ask which Magtek USB swipers they support.
