With the nine golden die-cast wheels and a golden die-cast ring, you can create countless amazing designs with machine-like precision. The pieces work just like classic Spirograph sets, but with the weight and feel of a nostalgic die-cast toy. The die-cast Spirograph wheels work with the two retractable ballpoint pens included in the set as well as with most standard pens, markers and pencils. Review: Nostalgic fun! - I had one of the spirograph travel sets as a kid, and it was one of my favorite things to play with (and I would cover our house in post-its which I would take from my mom's stash!). Fast forward like 30 years later... when I saw this set, I put of purchasing it as it's a bit pricey and I definitely don't need it. I finally gave in when I got an desertcart gift card as a present, it this was a true guilty purchase. I love the metal gears in this set and the fact that it comes with a storage tin. I am sure that Hasbro had grown-up kids like me in mind when they made this set, because the metal pieces make it feel like the adult version of the toy we all loved. I think this would be a great gift for other grown-up kids - especially with how presentable the collectible tin is. I've also had a good time using this is new ways no that I've grown up - incorporating it into other drawings and art, and turning some of my spirograph drawings into coloring projects and doodles. I find that this thing is a great way to zone out when I just want to clear my mind and relax for a bit. If you see it go on sale, grab it while you can!

**Q: Is this just plated plastic or die-cast metal?  What's the full story?  One reviewer says it's plated plastic.  Are the pieces solid metal throughout?**
A: This is made of die cast metal.

**Q: What is the best size of pens to use with this?**
A: My wife gets packs of an array of colored pens from different local stores that she uses for her spirograph. She also uses the same pens for adult type coloring books. I think that nearly any size pen will work. Hope that helps.

**Q: What is the largest "inside" (inches) design that can be made?**
A: Hello,After using the putty to set the ring in place, you may choose a wheel for the design.  If selecting the small wheel to use inside the ring, the shapes are about 2 1/2" in diameter.  If selecting a larger wheel to use outside the ring, the shapes can be as large as 7" in diameter.

**Q: What type of colored pens work best with this diecast set?**
A: You cannot use jel pens. They smear. No felt tip. The good old fashion pens work best for me,

A solid little kit that's fun to play with

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The funtac works, but sticks badly to some paper stocks. I miss the pins.

I unlocked a core memory: So cool to relive my childhood in the late 70s with these fun toys. Despite the product description, these are solid metal not plastic. I miss the original push pins but the holes are still there so I can rig something up. The newer sets provide Funtac to hold the ring on the paper, but, warning, it doesn't like ALL paper stocks - some thicker stock paper didn't want to let the funtac release. I think you could rig up a small foamboard plate to pin the metal plates down like the original set because the pin holes are on the newer die cast rings. Anyway, 5/5 because these are so cool in solid metal and will outlast me. $25 is a good price. I might add the $14 original set in for the extra pieces. "D
