Product Details:The Apogee ROSETTA 800 provides eight-channels of superior AD/DA conversion at sample rates of up to 192kHz along with Apogee's SoftLimit, UV22HR and Intelliclock functions. The most crucial component in the digital recording environment is high-quality conversion. The most crucial components of the converters are the clock and the analog circuitry, both at the input and output stages. To that end, the ROSETTA 800 builds on the audio circuitry taken from the AD8000SE (Special Edition) thus insuring that the audio streams arriving and leaving the converters are compromised as little as possible. The clock circuitry of a typical D/A converter must be designed as a compromise between the ability to attenuate input signal jitter and the ability to accept any bit-stream, regardless of its stability. The ROSETTA 800's Intelliclock overcomes this compromise by employing one clock stage to accept the bit-stream and store bits in a buffer, and a second stage to clock bits out of the buffer to the conversion stage. The first stage is optimized to track timing variations of the input, while the second stage is optimized to attenuate jitter and ensure that conversion takes place with the lowest jitter clock possible. One of the greatest difficulties in digital recording is getting an adequate level into the digital recording device without clipping and unwanted distortion. The ROSETTA 800 utilizes Apogee's SoftLimit, allowing digital output levels to be maximized without "overs" and without adversely affecting the audio. UV22HR is an industry standard technology for reducing the word-length of a high-resolution digital signal to 16-bits for CD mastering. UV22HR is also being employed to produce dramatically improved Internet and computer audio content without increased file sizes or data rates.
