## Overview

TotalBoat Marine Gelcoat is a premium, marine-grade ISO NPG polyester resin designed for durable, high-gloss fiberglass repairs and coatings. Available in white with wax for a tack-free finish, it supports easy tinting for custom colors and applies smoothly via brush, roller, or spray. Perfect for boat hulls, RVs, and composite parts, it offers superior strength, flexibility, and weather resistance, making it a must-have for professional-grade cosmetic repairs and boat building.

## Description

TotalBoat Gel Coat creates a durable, super-smooth, high-gloss coating on boat hulls, RVs, composite parts, and even repairs to fiberglass showers and tubs, pools and more. This high-quality boat gel coat contains a premium-grade ISO NPG polyester resin more durable than orthophthalic resins, and is preferred in boat building and as a gelcoat repair kit for boats due to greater strength, flexibility & protection against damage from water, weather, and chemicals. Gelcoats are available without wax for use in layups, and with wax for finishing. 2% MEKP catalyst is best, but in cooler conditions, add up to 3% MEKP. In warmer conditions or for added working time, add 1% MEKP. Cured gelcoat can be dewaxed, wet sanded & buffed to a high-gloss, protective finish. Gelcoat without wax is used for the initial layer of a layup, but for a tack-free cure, mix in a paraffin wax additive (sold separately) at a rate of 20 drops per ounce of gelcoat without wax (16 oz. of Gelcoat w/o Wax = 1/4 oz. of Wax Additive, 32 oz of Gelcoat w/o Wax = ½-1 oz of Wax Additive, and 1 gal. of Gelcoat w/o Wax = 2-4 oz of Wax Additive). TotalBoat Gelcoats can also be tinted to achieve a desired color. For neutral gelcoat, add 10% polyester resin or gelcoat colorant (12% for yellow, red, purple, light green and orange). For white gel coat, use up to 1% gelcoat coloring agent. Always mix colorant into gelcoat before adding MEKP. If thinning, use styrene. If applying inside a layup as the first layer, use a release agent first. If applying over TotalBoat TotalFair epoxy fairing compound, apply TotalBoat 2-Part Epoxy Primer or TotalProtect before applying Gelcoat boat paint. Compare to Gelcoats from West Marine, FGCI, Fibre Glast, Fiberglass Supply Depot, Polymer Planet, Hi-Bond and Evercoat Gel-Kote. Gelcoat should be part of every boat fiberglass repair kit. All TotalBoat products are developed for boaters by boaters to provide great value and great results. 100% made in the USA.

Review: Good - Good
Review: excellent stuff, read directions on website carefully. - Really good gelcoat; I used a 2.5mm nozzle and a bit of thinner, about 1oz/pint of gelcoat. Watch the hardner, the label says at 75F use 78-82 DROPS of hardner per 4oz of gelcoat, do NOT transpose that into 320 drops per 16oz or you will have a 16oz white hammer head, and with thinner it will go to about 200F and actually boil - no bueno. Get a 5ML measuring glass tube and measure hardner carefully, check out Totalboat website too. MORE!!! On my 17'6" Whaler I used too little of this; I would say use 8-10 qts [depending on what you want and what you are covering] for this size boat. Reasoning; You must put coating ON to take coating OFF, to smooth, sand down using 1000 grit or 1200 grit to get that mirror finish. If there's too thin a coating, you'll be taking it ALL OFF [like a girl named Susan that I used to know] and never get it as smooth-mirror-like.

## Features

- PREMIUM MARINE-GRADE POLYESTER GELCOAT: More durable than standard orthophthalic gelcoat, this is the smart choice for cosmetic gelcoat repair, hull coatings, boat building, layups and exterior coatings for composite parts on boats, motorcycles, RVs & more
- IDEAL FOR COSMETIC REPAIRS, EASY TO TINT with a polyester resin or gelcoat coloring agent to color match your existing gelcoat; tint white gelcoat to get pastel colors; tint neutral gelcoat for dark, bold colors. Add colorants before adding MEKP catalyst
- EASY ONE-STEP APPLICATION USING A BRUSH, ROLLER OR SPRAY GUN: Non-sagging, high-viscosity formula is easy to apply and has great coverage. At 77°F, pot life is 8-12 minutes. Cured gelcoat is easy to sand, buff and polish to a high-gloss, showroom finish
- CHOOSE THE RIGHT GELCOAT FOR YOUR PROJECT: For polyester resin layups, use gelcoat without wax as the first coat inside a prepared layup; as a final coat, use gelcoat with wax (the wax makes the gelcoat dry tack-free); if needed, thin with styrene only
- AVAILABLE IN WHITE OR NEUTRAL, WITH OR WITHOUT WAX. White gelcoat comes in Quart and Gallon sizes; Neutral gelcoat comes in Quart size ONLY. Includes MEKP catalyst. Coverage: About 12.8 sq ft/gal at 1/8" thick, 25.7 sq ft at 1/16", 51.3 sq ft at 1/32"

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have a jetski with pits in hull, can i just paint this on and apply a couple of coats, after prepping it and what would be best, with or without wax?**
A: the wax in the gel coat allows it to cure. The advantage of no waz is you can come back hours or even the next day and add additional coats. For a simple repair, I would get with wax.

**Q: Will this product run, or can it be molded to hold the desired shape?**
A: It is a liquid, so you will not be able to mold it.

**Q: Can this gelcoat be tinted with pigments?**
A: Yes, the gelcoat can be tinted with pigments. If you are not matching a white color, you may want to select a neutral gelcoat to tint. Adding pigments to white will create pastel colors.

**Q: can this be sprayed on? And how many square feet does it cover?**
A: It it can be spray but you'll need a large tip like your numbers four or six probably six Leavy better it's got about 12 to 15 minute jail time. I think 1 gallon we cover about 400 ft.² And 10 mil thick.
