Thanks to the new Shotgun Dot Optic Mount from TRUGLO. Finding the right mount to attach an optic and hold it securely can be a chore. TRUGLO has done something about this. Mounts for optics are usually installed on the ventilated rib of a shotgun or on the receiver, and TRUGLO offers both. The Shotgun Mount takes advantage of adding an optic mounting base. Review: Perfect solution (Update #2) - I have a youth model 870 in 20 gauge that isn’t drilled and tapped for a picatinny rail. I tried a saddle mount that I couldn’t seem to get mounted correctly. This item seems perfect. It was easy to mount. The hardest thing about it was getting the set screws in place to make sure the mount was centered on the rib of the gun. After that, the main anchor screws went in easily with the metal bars under the mount. I put some loctite on those screws and tightened them down. It seems to extremely solid and in place to stay. I gave it a 4/5 because I have not shot the gun yet, but I am confident it will stay in place. If not, I will update. Upgraded to 5/5 after several rounds. If you correctly install this mount, it should give you no trouble, and it is very easy to install correctly. Just be patient with what I call the “set screws” to center it on the center rib. I bought another one of these mounts for a second shotgun I bought a couple of weeks ago. This time, I secured the set screws and got everything lined up on the rib before I screwed in the main screws that secure the steel bands under the rib. It was literally a 3 minute job. I love these mounts. The rib mounted red dot is a game changer for me.
