That’s really where the bacteria grows!?** A: I’ve used Keurig brewers for 6+ years (on my 4th brewer). Learned my lesson not to use regular tap water on my 1st one. Gave my other 2 away as I moved up to a better featured brewer. I only use filtered water from my frig and rigorously clean my brewer with Keurig’s descaling solution or just plain vinegar every 3 months, plus change the water filter. Never had a problem. Any removable part can go into dishwasher. **Q: How often should this product be used?** A: Use vinegar. There IS bacteria in the inside of coffee makers like this, that we can NOT reach. I use plain vinegar, and lots of it, but--------sadly, i must have waited too long between cleaning. NOw i have to throw the Keurig away. There is No Way to get the sliime out of the inner workings of a Keurig. See, I have just learned the hard way, that IF i run one(1) cup of water through my Keurig, it comes out clean. Great, right?--------------- BUT if i flush the Keurig, with cup after cup after cup and cup? Tiny bits of slime begin to come out. I think, there is now a lining of slime on the INNER parts of my Keurig, and when i vigorously flush it, back to back to back to back? THEN the edges of this slime coating begin to loosen and come out. Again, if i run just one cup of water through the Keurig? it "seems" clean. But try this------run vinegar through your keurig and then------------run cup after cup after cup of plain water back to back to back, cup after cup, repeatedly, and LOOK at what gets loosened and begins to come out. YUCK. I think we all have to use vinegar REGULARLY and often -------and just throw out these coffee makers every 6 months? every 3 months? i do not know for sure yet, how long it takes to get that slime built up inside of a Keurig.... BUt going forward? i am leaving the lid open and all pieces open all day and night, to help "Dry" it out to reduce slime build up. and I WILL surely be flushing it regularly with cup after cup after cup after cup of clear water to observe if that slime is Back again on my new keurig. I want to see How LOng it takes to build up inside of my brand new keurig..... but, yeah, this product does NOTHING to kill germs. NOthing. **Q: What is the cleaning agent in these?** A: Presumably an acid to liquidize the built up calcium deposits from most sources of drinking water. **Q: Is this compatible with the Keurig K elite single serve?** A: Yes, I’ve used them in mine with no problem.
