Review: The best baby sleep book there is - Long review because I really am passionate about this book. This book (and accompanying facebook support group) changed my life. It really was the first step to getting over my PPD because baby and I were actually able to SLEEP. I wish I had found it before babe was 6 months because it would have saved me from so much anguish. Kiddo now self settles throughout the night and for all of his naps and there are no tears now, just sleepy babbles and smiles in the morning. This book is well researched, empathetic, and hilarious (which makes for a quick read, even for a very sleep deprived new mom). I saw a negative review stating that it was basically cry it out, which one can interpret it as being if just glancing at it. Or, if you're one of those who just has a trigger reaction to any suggestion of cry it out, I can see how this would upset you. However, this book does NOT suggest that you leave your baby until morning and does not suggest night weaning until a very reasonable age. It also emphasizes that there is no right way to do things! Don't want to night wean till baby is 1? That's FINE! Want to co-sleep till baby is 2? Also FINE! Whatever works for your family. This is very empowering for sleep deprived new parents who are most likely confused by the overwhelming amount of information and advice that tell them to do completely opposite things. What this book WILL tell you is how to foster independent sleep by removing sleep crutches/associations and how to deal with many common problems that get in the way of good sleep: teething, reflux, sleep regressions, etc. There are two methods to independent sleep, one more "gentle" (more effective for babies less than 6 months) and the other is more akin to CIO. However, it's the most supported version of CIO I've found as it really focuses on age appropriate scheduling and routines. Avoiding an over/undertired baby is crucial in minimizing crying. SO! If you're done rocking your baby to sleep for an hour every night, or being woken up every two hours by baby wanting to nurse - GET THIS BOOK. If you need further help after that, join the Facebook group.
Review: No baby sleep snake oil here- just practical, science based advice that actually works - For the first 5 months of my sons life I was slowly withering away, literally. After a somewhat traumatic c-section, a blood transfusion, thrush, poor latch, trying to control his dairy allergy by an elimination diet, and waking up every 90 minutes my postpartum depression and anxiety was becoming overwhelming. And amid all that my back was in crippling pain. I kept putting up with it, telling myself it was normal, telling myself I should be nursing around the clock, that waking up all night long was something I should just get used to, till finally my husband convinced me to go to the doctor. She ordered tests and an MRI. That scan revealed 3 compression fractures on my spine and 3 cracked ribs. The tech thought I had been in a car accident but I hadn't! So a bone density test revealed I had rare pregnancy and lactation induction osteoporosis in my spine and pre osteoporosis in my hips. My bones had broken with daily activity because they were so weak. I needed to heal. I needed to sleep. My friend (luckily) had already had high praise for the blog Troublesome Tots so I found myself at the Precious Little Sleep website. I devoured it! Alexis's voice was a life raft! I finally felt like I could get the rest I needed, not have to feel like I was a bad mom and teach my son a lifelong valuable skill. Sleep Training wasn't easy but when it started to work my confidence as a mother bloomed. I had done something right! The ppd voice inside my head that was telling me I couldn't swing this whole motherhood thing drifted away. And we all slept! My son thrived! I started getting better and proudly went on to peach that I had used SLIP and it was the best parenting decision I've ever made. So thank you Precious Little Sleep family. You saved this mom! This book is so comprehensive and offers so many tips and tricks and methods for getting your baby to sleep. It's real life advice and goes over literally every question I've ever had about how to get a baby to sleep. Alexis knows what she's talking about and this book is so easy to read and implement!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly Recommend!!
*by T***N on October 20, 2025*

Such an easy read - it is well-written, organized, and concised. Within the first day of reading this book, I decided to implement the SWAP method of FIO on my 3 month with some minor adjustments to her bedtime routine based on the books recommendation and guess what?! She fell asleep on her without secondary intervention on our part. The biggest learning curve for me was to TRUST. Trust in the process, trust in my role as a parent, and trust in my daughter's abilities. Cannot recommend this book enough - way better deal and more realistically informative than those expensive sleep guides!
