I intended to put them on the flat wooden arms of my chair. The height of these on top of the chair arm raised my shoulder uncomfortably high.(I have a lot of arthritis issues.) I wish I had measured the padding to be more accurate in describing these, but you should figure them at something just over an inch high. Nonetheless, having seen them and having looked at the options the company provides for application of them, I was very impressed.
