Wearing the socks for any period of time was borderline painful and very tight. The socks lasted about 4 months before all of them had holes poking through the big toe. Recently reordered but got the large (11-13) size instead and they are comfortable and fit fine. I would probably get the large even if you were a 9 shoe size. Unless foot-binding is your thing of course. **Q: I recieved the socks and got 4 pairs . At first I thought they weren't going to fit. Until I tried them on. Not only do they fit, but they're also comfortable. The material is lighter than I expected, but it makes them perfect for the summer months. My feet do not sweat. They even have the rubber guards on the heel to keep them from falling off. I would have given this a five-star rating, but the rubber guards do not work. If I wear the socks and walk too much, the socks slide off my heels.
