Her novels are normally well thought out, well developed, and don't dwell on the erotic to the point of nausea. I did say normally.Problem #1 - Riley is not a good template for a heroine/main character. Like many of the romance novels today (for some Godforsaken unknown reason) she has a boat load of issues. She's fixated on her twin to the point of obsession that's gone way beyond unhealthy. She's also stupid. One thing I can't abide in a main character is stupidity. Her lover drugs her, it's obvious they took blood samples, he's obviously attempting to gain control of her for reasons that can't be anything but bad - and she still refuses to see it. Quinn, the vampire "love interest" actually has her best interests at heart and she refuses to trust him no matter what ... to the point of working against him and putting him at risk due to her "my brother comes first, I can't trust anyone but my brother, I need to talk to my brother" attitude. One expects her to ask her brother if it's OK for her to go to the bathroom.Problem #2 - there are a gazillion ways that were's are portrayed in literature ... this is not a good one. They are totally ruled by lust ... and will basically mate with anything with a pulse. Not attractive. The depiction of were's is terribly cliche and it would be a good idea if no other writer in the history of literature uses it as a model.Problem #3 - ties into the way the were's are portrayed - and leads to something not common for Keri Arthur - it's constant graphic sex. Don't need it. Don't want it. Use your writing skills to suggest - don't beat the reader over the had with the details. She turned this book into pornography. On top of that ... even if the moon ruled them to the extent this book indicates, none of them would be functional for anything else - they wouldn't be able to go to work ... if they had kids they would starve due to lack of attention. The overall result is just nasty and messy.Here's to hoping Keri gets back to writing as she has previously ... well thought out stories, characters that are well developed and don't have so many issues they should be institutionalized, and a minimum of the graphic erotic details. ### ⭐⭐ Not as good as people say *by D***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2019* I really don’t understand the hype, it’s just not that good. Half story, half porn, which is not what I’m complaining about. The characters are sexual, so what? but it’s more than that, they have no control, it’s a werewolf thing and they screw like bunnies once a month... if that was realistic then the world would be full of wolves. Yes, they now have computer chips that stop breeding, but they didn’t in the past, so then they would have bred like crazy before birth control became a thing. You want to like the characters but because of the wolf lust all they want, all they talk about, is sex, so they are just semi nice people that are nymphomaniacs. Not a lot to build on there. The plot has so many holes, the characters control each other without consequence, the clones are never ending, all of it is just unbelievable. Sorry, but I say skip it. I think people are talking it up just because it is rare that sex is so much a part of a book. Skip it and read Fifty Shades of Grey or something. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A good read full of action ans suspense *by D***Y on Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2018* Riley Jenson, is part werewolf, part vampire, although she identifies mostly as a werewolf. She works for an institution which monitors and polices non-humans. Her job is in administration although she is being actively pressured to become an agent. She is dead set against the idea, but when her brother goes missing she has no choice but to go into the field and find him. She soon discovers she been drawn into a world of deception where she has been repeatedly lied to.This book is filled with action and drama and moves along at a surprising clip. It is full of innuendo and sex scenes, which although well written, tended to get a little stale towards the end. The characters I found a little lackluster and I think they could have been better developed. The plot rumbled along but unfortunately telegraphed what was going to happen leaving the reader with no real unexpected twists. Having said all this, I found the book to be a quick-paced enjoyable read.
