As to speed I would start on speed2-4 that should be fine to get you through it safely without cracking it. It's a plastic coat either side of a foam base material. I would advise cutting it with a Stanley knife as a saw would damage it. I'm not trying to teach you to suck eggs on anything I have just said , just from my own experience of working with it.
