Back home, I could literally walk into my backyard and grab fresh coconuts, fresh avocados from the tree, tropical fruits, and vegetables year-round. It wasn't seasonal like it is in many places, especially here in Michigan. These foods were available all year long, so I was constantly getting vitamins, minerals, and fresh foods every day. After moving to Michigan, that changed completely. Fresh tropical fruits are expensive, and even when I buy them, they don't taste the same as they do back home.
