Review: Awesome, reasonably priced SUV tent - I’ve had this tent for over a year and I do a lot of car camping in my 2006 Honda Element. I hadn’t tried it out until very recently but decided on a whim to take it on my last trip. Honda Elements are extremely versatile cars and have an almost cult like following, but the rear hatch is quite different from most SUVs on the market now (they stopped making Elements some time back) and the products designed specifically to fit this vehicle are so expensive it’s almost laughable. I found this tent on desertcart and figured I give it a go, knowing that it might not be a perfect fit but prepared to make it work in the interest of saving literally hundreds of dollars. I was very surprised and pleased, both with the quality of the product and the fit. It was easy to set up and with a few careful adjustments it was almost perfect. It provided me with easily an extra 2 feet of interior space in the back of the vehicle AND it allowed me to enter and exit with ease. (A major design flaw in the Element is that Honda did not see fit to equip it with a handle for opening the rear hatch from inside the vehicle). The extra ventilation it allows when sleeping in such a relatively small space is wonderful. It made the whole experience of car camping so much easier that I almost can’t see going without it now. There are some very small gaps near the taillight area where the tent meets the car, but nothing that can’t be managed by tucking in a small cloth, if you’re worried about mosquitoes or other insects finding their way in. It was otherwise perfect, and really one of the best investments I’ve made in my camping gear! Highly recommend!
Review: Very good tailgate tent - recommended - For what it is, this tailgate tents serves it's purpose. It attaches fairly easily, easily fitting over the open gate of my 2021 CX-5, and has of adjustable plenty of straps and ropes to secure it, including two stakes for the entry canopy. It also comes with 6 small rectangular magnets to place on the fabric in places where it gaps due to the shape of the car, to reduce incursion by unwanted insects. The idea is a good and effective one, but the magnets are too weak and too small, easily flying off as even a light breeze ripples the fabric. I happened to have some stringer ones which stayed on better as long as the breeze is not too strong. The zippers work well for the entry, and the large screen opening with the canopy extended provides plenty of air. I have yet to experience a rainstorm in that tent but am optimistic it would keep the rain out. Quality of construction appears excellent and durable with repeated use. My test-run was an overnight in a local camping ground, and then a longer test-run on a 4,500-mile road trip with 6 camping stops in the 6 SW US states. It held up well with the repeated setups and take-downs and made the car-camping experience tolerable. I don't really like sleeping in my SUV but it seemed the best solution for this particular trip since it was just for overnight stops, and this tent made it a better experience than to otherwise would have been. Photo shows it without the canopy extended - this was a particularly windy site with threat of rain.

I’ve had this tent for over a year and I do a lot of car camping in my 2006 Honda Element. I hadn’t tried it out until very recently but decided on a whim to take it on my last trip. Honda Elements are extremely versatile cars and have an almost cult like following, but the rear hatch is quite different from most SUVs on the market now (they stopped making Elements some time back) and the products designed specifically to fit this vehicle are so expensive it’s almost laughable. I found this tent on Amazon and figured I give it a go, knowing that it might not be a perfect fit but prepared to make it work in the interest of saving literally hundreds of dollars. I was very surprised and pleased, both with the quality of the product and the fit. It was easy to set up and with a few careful adjustments it was almost perfect. It provided me with easily an extra 2 feet of interior space in the back of the vehicle AND it allowed me to enter and exit with ease. (A major design flaw in the Element is that Honda did not see fit to equip it with a handle for opening the rear hatch from inside the vehicle). Very easy to set up! Used it on a 2001 Honda minivan and it fit perfectly. It’s adjustable and easy to get in and out of. It rained the night we used it and zero water got in.
