Review: Not reliable and prone to mechanical failure. - Second desertcart Peacock Bass trip second failure for this worthless reel. Kastking seems to have an issue with reliability, this is the second frustrating mechanical failure on my second trip dealing with this reel coming apart. I brought the real down again this year after repairing the failure after last year‘s trip. I had the exact same failure again The little set screw that holds the little red collar that stops the nut from backing off the handle and drag assent comes out… Save yourself your hard earned money and a lot of frustration and steer very clear of this product. It’s just not worth your aggravation. Trust me. ## Features - HIGHEST GEAR RATIO BAITCAST FISHING REEL - When KastKing set out to conquer the fishing tackle world with the fastest retrieve speed baitcaster on the planet, they did more than make Speed Demon Elite baitcasting reels fast. They pulled out all the stops. Based on input from Pro anglers in MLF, B.A.S.S., FLW, and BFL and scores of recreational fishermen KastKing added unique and patent pending features. The results were outstanding. And, like all KastKing fishing reels, they made it affordable! - A GREAT FISHING REEL STARTS WITH GREAT GEARS - KastKing used Hamai precision cut aerospace aluminum 44.3mm main gear and brass pinion gear for ultimate performance, 10.5:1 speed and an amazing 42 IPT for super-fast line retrieve. This makes it the fastest gear ratio baitcast reel on the market today. If that’s a little too fast for you Speed Demon Elite is also available with 8.6:1 gear ratio / 34 IPT and all the same other features. - DEMON EYE CENTRIFUGAL BRAKES - Speed Demon Elite baitcasting reels have a revolutionary design “Demon Eye” micro-control exterior centrifugal brake system that puts brake adjustment at your fingertips. After initially setting the internal brake pins you can then fine tune your brakes with the external Demon Eye control. You now have a wide range of 40 adjustments for the bait and conditions you are fishin - WINNING FEATURES ADDED - 10 + 1 double shielded stainless steel ball bearings; Up to 18 Lbs of ultra-smooth triple disc carbon fiber drag; Palm-perfect design; Patent-pending DTCC “Double Tapered Control Chute” line guide to virtually eliminate backlashes, add casting smoothness, and improve line retrieval; Line Memory Dial to help you remember what size line you spooled on; Easy maintenance oil port and water drainage port. - SOLID PLATFORM AND FEATURES - KastKing Speed Demon Elite fishing reels utilize an exceptional solid aluminum frame for zero flex and low weight. Likewise, aerospace quality hardened aluminum alloys are used throughout for the v-shaped spool, worm shaft, split main shaft for weight reduction, higher speeds, and longer casts without noise, and 90 mm aluminum handle with EVA grips. This gives you a cast reel that weighs only 6.7 ounces. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0863WP5DJ | | Bearing Material Type | Stainless Steel | | Bearing Number | 11 | | Brand | KastKing | | Brand Name | KastKing | | Colour | Black, Red | | Customer Reviews | 4.1 out of 5 stars 125 Reviews | | Fishing Line Type | Monofilament, Braided | | Fishing Reel Line Retrieve | 42 Inches | | Fishing Reel Maximum Drag | 18 Pounds | | Fishing Technique | Baitcasting | | Fishing technique | Baitcasting | | Hand Orientation | Left Hand | | Hand orientation | Left Hand | | Handle Material | Carbon Fiber | | Item Highlight | Max Drag: 18 lb, 10+1 BB, 6.9 oz, CNC Lightweight Aluminum Frame, Magnetic Brake, High Speed, Skipping Version | | Item Weight | 6.7 Ounces | | Item weight | 6.7 Ounces | | Line Capacity | 10/200 | | Manufacturer | KastKing | | Manufacturer Part Number | KRLCSTSDE-105LBK-4 | | Material | Carbon , Stainless Steel | | Material Type | Carbon, Stainless Steel | | Model Name | Krlcstsde-db74rgs | | Model Number | KRLCSTSDE-105LBK-4 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Other Special Features of the Product | Demon Eye micro-control exterior centrifugal brake system, DTCC ‘Double Tapered Control Chute’ line guide, Line Memory Dial | | Size | Left Hand | ## Product Details - **Bearing material:** Stainless Steel - **Brand:** KastKing - **Colour:** Black, Red - **Fishing technique:** Baitcasting - **Hand orientation:** Left Hand - **Handle material:** Carbon Fiber - **Item weight:** 6.7 Ounces - **Material:** Carbon, Stainless Steel - **Model name:** Krlcstsde-db74rgs ## Images ![KastKing Speed Demon Elite Baitcasting Fishing Reel,10.5:1 Gear Ratio,Left - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61AFGuPkSFL.jpg) ![KastKing Speed Demon Elite Baitcasting Fishing Reel,10.5:1 Gear Ratio,Left - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61BOlDCplxL.jpg) ![KastKing Speed Demon Elite Baitcasting Fishing Reel,10.5:1 Gear Ratio,Left - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61MQa2QHbfL.jpg) ![KastKing Speed Demon Elite Baitcasting Fishing Reel,10.5:1 Gear Ratio,Left - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71fUvRzpRDL.jpg) ![KastKing Speed Demon Elite Baitcasting Fishing Reel,10.5:1 Gear Ratio,Left - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71Ofr6EML6L.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Doctor *by M***O on 24 March 2026* Ótimo custo-benefício. ### ⭐ Not reliable and prone to mechanical failure. *by E***O on 30 October 2025* Second Amazon Peacock Bass trip second failure for this worthless reel. Is there a difference between the Speed Demon and the lower tier? That is an easy answer is a blind fold test when you spin each real. I bought it to try it out to see if the difference in price worth the value. There are much more differences when free spooling and reeling in the fish with the speed demon. The Speed Demon is absolutely so much smoother and you can feel there is "no play". You really don't know/aware the "no play" until you spin the Speed Demon vs the lower tier e.g. Spartacus/Royale Legend II. It seems there is no tolerance/vibration in the spinning mechanism. I had trouble later with braided line after 30 min of using it and got worse after further tuning it: would get bird nest on every cast if I am not maxing out 10 on the braking system. And yes, I adjusted the free-spooling drag correctly! Not sure if it is the centrifugal brakes system related though I really like the magnetic system in the lower tier: definitely need more time to play with braided line. Thing really changed to be better when I swapped to 12lbs monofilament. These pictures show what a fun time I had this last weekend of catching shads. I filled up the 85qt cooler in 4 hours. If anyone had done shad fishing, you cast out every 3-5 minutes and I got zero bird nest with monofilament. I am not a die-hard fisherman but this last weekend it was cloudy and the fish was not biting close to shore but the long cast with this Speed Demon was biting almost on every cast. Other fishermen with their spinning rod setup were very jealous the non-stop action I was getting! At the moment, it was a good time and a good experience (beside the braided line incident) so definitely worth the money. I will update any resolution I have on the braided line if anyone want to ping me for a follow up! ## Frequently Bought Together - KastKing Speed Demon Elite Fishing Reel, World's Fastest 10.5:1 Gear Ratio/Deadbolt Baitcasting Reel, 10+1 Shielded Stainless Steel BB, CNC Lightweight Aluminum Frame, Available in Skipping Version - KastKing SuperPower Braided Fishing Line - Abrasion Resistant Braided Lines – Incredible Superline – Zero Stretch – Smaller Diameter – A Must-Have! - KastKing Hammer Alpha 9 UHMWPE Braided Fishing Line - Made in The USA, Strong and Smooth, Round, 9-Carrier, Colorfast Braided Fishing Line, Perfect for Most Fishing Reel and Finesse Applications --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/250282498-kastking-speed-demon-elite-baitcasting-fishing-reel-10-5-1](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/250282498-kastking-speed-demon-elite-baitcasting-fishing-reel-10-5-1) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-10-16*
