They aren't huge and would not fit a box of pasta, but fit a quart of fruit (strawberries/blueberries) or some grapes. I've never seen it in stores and was happy to find it on Amazon. I was ready for a replacement and was excited to purchase. Like the picture, I have a stainless steel sink. Since it came as a 2-pack, gave one to my mom but was disappointed to find that her sink ridge was too wide/thick for this colander. She has a standard 2-sided porcelain sink as far as I know. She is going to offer it to a friend because it really is a great and handy tool. I keep it in my sink 100% of the time. A lot of times I use it to keep as a drying rack for utensils I've washed or for the sponge to allow it to dry out between uses. I will replace this one when needed as well (probably 4 or 5 years from now based on the life of the first one). Just offer a caution to make sure your sink "spine" is narrow enough if you want it to hang off the spine.
